Chocolate-Covered Apple Slices
Prep Time60 Minutes
Servings16
0Ingredients
4 large hard-variety apples
16 jumbo wooden treat sticks
2 bags Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Melting Wafers
toppings of choice
Ghirardelli White Vanilla Melting Wafers, for drizzling
Directions
- Prep It. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Place a piece of wax paper on each of two baking sheets. Cut each apple vertically into 5 slices. Discard the center core piece. You will get 4 usable slices per apple. If the slices are too thin, they may break when inserting a stick. Using a paring knife, cut a slit in the bottom of each apple slice. Insert a treat stick into each slice. Cover with a kitchen towel, and set aside.
- Melt It. Heat the dark chocolate melting wafers in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals until completely melted. Stir well between each interval.
- Dip It. Blot the apple slices with paper towels to get rid of all excess juice. Dip the apple slices in the melted chocolate, using a spoon to coat the entire slice. Let excess chocolate drip off. Transfer to wax paper-lined tray.
- Top It. Add dry toppings like nuts, cookies, etc. right away. Refrigerate until solid, about 20 minutes. For drizzling, repeat the microwaving process with the white melting wafers. Drizzle over the apples using a spoon.
