Ingredients
BRATS: 1 pkg Johnsonville® Brats (Original or Cheddar & Beer)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp smoked paprika
1/4 tsp black pepper
8 slices bacon, uncooked
15 toothpicks
SAUCE: 1/2 cup yellow mustard
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/3 cup honey
1 Tbs soy sauce
1 Tbs vegetable oil
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1 pinch cayenne pepper
Directions
  1. Soak toothpicks in water for 30 minutes. Place bratwursts in a saucepan. Cover with 1 inch of water, broth or beer. Bring to a simmer, and cook for 5 minutes. Remove brats from pan. Set aside to cool slightly.
  2. In a bowl, combine brown sugar, chili powder, paprika and black pepper. Cut each bacon slice in half. Cut each brat into 3 equal-sized pieces. Wrap each brat piece with 1/2 slice of bacon, and secure the bacon with a toothpick. Place the wrapped brat pieces in the brown sugar mixture. Press into all sides to coat.
  3. Preheat grill to medium-low heat. Grill the bacon-wrapped brats, turning occasionally, until bacon is crispy (about 5 minutes per side).
  4. Combine all sauce ingredients, and cook over low heat for 5 minutes. Serve with grilled brats.
